With the 55th Venice Biennale in full swing, our very own colleague Christopher Michael contributed an exclusive interview with the curator of the latest exhibition, Massimiliano Gioni, in which he discusses his treatment of the Biennale as a “contemporary pilgrimage,” fashion’s everlasting relationship with art, as well as his personal interpretation of visual expression:
“I don’t see myself as a creator. I see myself as somebody who looks at the art and works with the artists to present their work. Then maybe I build a narrative, but it’s very much about presenting the works in the way I think they need to be presented. So, the focus, of course, is really the artwork.”
